SNSYC's Junior Program offers kids to the age of 18, a fun and active sailing program.
The club has a variety of dinghies available including Optimist, Flying Juniors,
Lasers, and 420's. We have regular sailing activities with social events and many
of the members also take sailing lessons through the SNSYC Summer Sailing School.
All activities have an emphasis on fun and safety and are done around the relaxed
atmosphere of the clubhouse. Parent volunteers are welcome!
• Sunday Dinghy Sailing in the spring and fall. Get your spray top on and
come out for a blast around Tseheum Harbour on the club dinghies.
• Sunday Keelboat Sailing - come out on the senior members race boats for
Sunday Sailing. They are often looking for crew.
• Friday night Socials - once a month we get together and see a movie, go
bowling, swimming, BBQ, or hear what some of our intermediate members are doing
with their sailing adventures.
• Dinghy Regattas - for those that want to test their competitive sailing
ability, we organize trips to Regattas at other yacht clubs.
• Sailing School - all junior members receive
a discount on the club's summer sailing school courses.
• Thursday Night Summer Sailing - enjoy the fun at the junior dock and head
out for a sail on Thursday night. Bring your towel and bathing suit - you may get
wet!
• Food... As a junior member you have access to all the club facilities including
the restaurant. Burgers, pizza, pop, hot chocolate... There is a great menu!
The price for junior membership is reasonable and we really enjoy having kids around
the club. Note that parents don't have to be a member for their children to join
the club, and an Affiliate Membership is available for those parents who would like
to join the club. For those Junior members that have passed their 18th birthday,
they can become Intermediate Members.
